Four-Minute Poem
Price: $345.00
When: October 20 - November 24, 2025 — 6 weeks on Mondays, 5 - 7pm PT
Taught By: Jeanine Walker
Location: Zoom
Class Size: 16 students
Introductory/Intermediate
Through many years of trial and error, I've discovered that a great first draft can be written in four minutes. Many four-minute poems have evolved into pieces that are finished, published, and celebrated. Students in this class will be asked to write for four minutes a day for the duration of the class. Students will learn how to write a solid four-minute draft and will practice various revision techniques for turning the drafts into complete, flourishing poems. The class includes one small-group workshop and a whole-class workshop day, as well as multiple opportunities to share.
This class is appropriate for beginning writers as well as seasoned poets who are looking to add a new technique to their repertoire.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Feedback from previous students:
"I've taken poetry classes for decades, and you're the first teacher who ever really taught me how to write a poem."
"I was blown away by the organized structure of Jeanine's classes and the balance she struck between reading, writing, practical tips, peer discussion, etc. I am very thankful to Jeanine -- she shared so much with us, and for the first time, I now have tangible goals to consistently write (do my daily four-minute poems) and to get my writing out there (aim for 100 rejections)!"
“The prompts were inspiring . The instructor was extremely generous with her time and with sharing her personal experiences. Jeanine Walker is very caring and encouraged us to contact her after the class is over. She is well-informed, well-organized and very encouraging. I very much enjoyed the class, even though it was a challenge.”
“This class was both extremely practical and confidence building for me as a writer. Jeanine is a fabulous instructor and I would take any class from her :) ”
“Ms. Walker is a very engaging, dedicated and competent instructor and it is a real pleasure to be in class with her. Whenever one finds a teacher of this caliber, it is truly a gift.”
